If you have come to this page, you are wanting to know how to use Kenn's Painter. Hopefully, this tutorial will provide you with at least a working knowledge on how this simple, yet powerful paint program works!
The first thing you need to do is, of course, get the program! Kenn's Painter can be downloaded by clicking here
(Note: This is a .zip file. If you are using Windows XP or later, it has a built in extractor, but for earlier versions of Windows, you will need a program like WinZip or WinRAR.
OK, you now have your program, which comes with a selection of bitmaps for assorted heads, bodies, objects, and an empty turf room bitmap. There is a good chance that your particular head, body, etc... is not in that assortment, so you should head on over to CT Passion's website and dowload the bitmap you need.
For
this tutorial, I will be using the
Annette body, which I have downloaded from the site.
This
is the main screen for Kenn's Painter and what you will see when you
first open the program.
On
the left side is the color pallette
used for all items IW.
To the right of that are the 3 groups. For this particular bitmap, Bottom/Group 1 will paint the pants.
Skin/Group 2 will paint the Skin.
Top/Group 3 will paint the shirt.
The Gee! button will apply a random set of colors...usually though, it's not something you would want to paint on your avie.
The Apply Color Codes button is used if you type your own code into the code area at the bottom of the screen.
Now...let's
load the Annette body. To
do this, you will click File > Load Other Bitmap. When the Open
box appears, select the Annette body bitmap and click Open. See below

And
here's your Bitmap!

You may notice that there is an additional color on the bottom under the 3 color groups. This is for painting the belt on the Annette body, but can be used to paint different things on other bodies. This color will NOT paint from your can, though, and you have to get a Caretaker to change this color.
This final portion of the tutorial is easy enough to explain, but hard to show.
To paint your bitmap, all you need to do is click and drag a color from the big palette on the left to one of the groups on the right. I have done this and below is the result of a sample code.

All you need now is a Custom Can for this code. If you do not
want to keep Kenn's Painter open, you can highlight the code at the
bottom of the screen and hit CTRL+C to copy it, open a text editor like
Notepad, and press CTRL+V to paste the code into Notepad.
Now find yourself a friendly neighborhood Guide Painter and bring a Custom Can to the Custom Paint locale. Make sure you get the right can for a body or a head or a turf as they are different cans!
When
you are called down, place the
can on the floor, Copy and Paste your code either in ESP or outloud to
the Guide Painter. The Guide Painter will then fill your can with the
paint you've made.
Congratulations!
You have now created
your own paint codes using Kenn's Painter! We look forward to seeing
what codes you can all create!
Should you have any further questions, feel free to contact ANY Guide Painter and they will be sure to assist you further!
Good luck and have fun creating codes!
