After they had returned from Fortuno’s spell chamber with Isabella, the queen gave the order for every sailable craft under her command to be prepared immediately to make the journey across Jasdar’s Lake to the Behemoth Mountains where Renti had last been seen. Quite some time had passed since the search party had departed and Queen Fesora was becoming restless. She prayed for news that her son had been found, or simply a sign that he was alive, but the news she received was far from what she had hoped for. Dorran, Sentira, Milo and Fortan met with Queen Fesora and Isabella in the throne room on their return. Fortan stepped forth and delivered the bad news that their search had failed. On the first night of the search a giant managed to find their boats and had made short work of demolishing them. The giants had learned of their presence and it was not long before they found them. The search group was forced to flee, as they came under heavy attack from the malicious giants. The group quickly made their way across the Rime Bridge to the Northern Mountains, where they were able to loose their pursuers, but the giants made sure they could not re-enter their fortress by casting an avalanche of rock and ice upon the bridge. There was now no way to return to the Behemoth Mountains, as every known boat in the Kingdom had been damaged beyond repair and the only other passage had been lost to them. Dorran and Sentira informed Fesora that they had already given the order for more boats to be built, but it was going to take some time. Fesora was devastated. If her son truly was in the Behemoth Mountains, then they could not afford to wait when he was amongst such an overpowering threat. Fortan paused for a moment, before giving hint that there may be another possible boat within the Kingdom. Deep in the Light Forest, a strange elf had been known to live, Marsilo. Several of the villagers had met Marsilo on occasion, and had assisted him in tending to the trees and the lake in the past. When at last they found his lakeside cottage, they were disappointed to see the state of the vessel they had hoped to journey in. Marsilo admitted, woefully, that he had neglected his dear boat of late, and it was in need of some repairs before it could break water again. But Marsilo happily offered to fix the ship promptly for them, if they would fetch him some fabric for the sail and some wood for the stern. The villagers rushed into town, where they acquired some fine cloth from the seamstress. They then went into the Dark Forest, where they persuaded the woodman to lend them a share of his timber. With these items in stock they returned to Marsilo, and as good as his word, he went outside to make the repairs. Sage noticed a journal of some sort on Marsilo’s table and took a quick glace at it. In it was a passage about the Behemoth Mountains, and a recipe for a potent slumber spell for use on giants. Eventually Marsilo returned, with news that his task was complete, and his proud boat was once again ready to set sail. Before they set off, Marsilo offered Sharkie a length of sturdy rope, hoping it would come in handy. They thanked Marsilo for all his help, and set off to the Behemoth Mountains. After a long journey, they finally arrived outside the giants’ fortress. They quietly made their way across the land until they arrived outside the giants’ keep and made their way inside. Sharkie soon saw an opportunity to use Marsilo’s rope. In the centre of the room was a large dining table. She hooked one end of it onto the edge of the table and pulled herself up. She walked to the far end of the table and looked up, an enormous metal birdcage was hanging from the ceiling, and there was something inside... a man! Sharkie called up to him. He told her how a giant had imprisoned him there. He had fought with a giant snake on the outskirts of the mountain, before his capture and had obtained an exceptionally sharp tooth, which could be used to cut the rope supporting the cage, but the giant had robbed him of all his possessions. Sage walked across the room to a large wooden door, leading behind the fortress. She peered through a small crack and spotted an extremely menacing looking giant standing behind the door! Since they set out from Marsilo’s cottage, Sage had been tracking down ingredients for the potion she had learned from his journal, and had now mixed the concoction into its finished form. She got out the vial and chucked it underneath the door, causing it to smash. A rich blue smoke rose from the mixture around the giant. The giant began to stumble and crashed to the ground, causing the whole building to shake. Sage snuck under the door and approached the giant, who was now in a deep sleep. She climbed up his side and dived into his pocket, where she pulled out a large key. Shatzi had begun to explore the room when he found a huge chest, he rallied several of the strongest villagers to his side and went about trying to open it, but it appeared to be locked. He called Sage over and she attempted to use her key. It worked! When the chest was finally opened they found the giant snake fang that the prisoner had mentioned and after talking to Sharkie, he made his way across the room to the towering bookcase. He nervously looked up and began to climb the books and shelfs until he reached the top. Fastened to the side of the wall was a rusty metal ring, with rope tied through it. The rope was connected by hooks across the ceiling and connected to the birdcage, with the imprisoned man. Shatzi took the snake fang and slashed at the rope, causing it to snap. A loud crash shook the room as the birdcage plummeted to the floor. As Shatzi made his way down, Sharkie rushed over to see if the man was alright. The impact had forced the door of the birdcage open, and the man had survived unharmed. He thanked the villagers wholeheartedly. Sage realised that this had to be the lost heir, Renti, and pleaded with him to meet with some of her people. The man agreed, but told her he first had some business to settle with his captor. Queen Fesorsa arrived the next morning with Isabella, to meet with Renti and be reunited with her lost son. Fesora was full of questions, but not too long into her conversation with Fortan, they were discovered! A giant stormed out of the fortress and attacked them!
The guards rushed forward to defend the queen, but were thrown back by the force of such a beast. The giant cornered the queen, and was about to crush her, when Renti rushed from behind him and stuck his sword into his heel. The giant yelled in pain. The guards pulled themselves to their feet and assisted Renti in seeing off the giant. As the giant fled, Queen Fesora laid her eyes on her son for the first time. Renti wondered why these people seemed to know him. Fesora tried her best to explain everything that had happened, telling him that she was his mother. Renti could not believe it. He told them how he never knew his real mother, and that he thought she had died. He agreed to return with them to the castle, before the giant bought others back with him and so they might discuss all he and Fesora had missed out on for so many long lost years.
