As the new King, Marentius met with Fortan, Dorran, and the Queen Mother Fesora. The all were thrilled to hear the report that the citizens of the kingdom loved the new Royal Gardens. The feeling of elation was all about the castle. Everyone was preparing for the visitors. Fortan reminded everyone that the three doves that appeared on the throne during the coronation had symbolized the Faeries, Elves and Trolls. Everyone gathered in the throne room waiting for the arrival of the first visitors. The faeries came and greeted King Marentius. All were quiet as the faeries spoke. ![]() "As representing the Faeries, we would like to inform you that we will continue to provide you and your citizens of the kingdom the ability to dye. We also greatly look forward to the future trading that will go on between our people. I also anticipate great things in both of our future, as we continue to be allies." "When bringing the gift of dye to the citizens of this lovely Kingdom, we see our gift as a reflection of the unity, grace, and beauty of both the Kingdom and its citizens. I believe that I speak for all of the Faeries when I say that the relationship our peoples have is greatly cherished. That is why our dyes will forever shimmer for all of our hearts, and eyes." King Marentius thanked the faeries, as they bowed and left to return to their kingdom. As all waited for the next of the visitors it was speculated that the visit from the elves had something to do with the rather strange elf some of the guards had seen in the kingdom of late. Dorran said that the strange elf’s name was Geeko. Queen Mother Fesora said that Marsilo found out that Geeko’s elf race is very intelligent and they have a great talent for mining and building. They are a race that lives underground and cannot keep themselves exposed to light for too long. The elves arrived and were escorted into the castle by Dorran. ![]() Marsilo bowed to King Marentius and introduced Geeko, the scribbler. He explained that Scribbler is the name for their particular race of Elves. Their ancestors gave them that name long ago. Geeko also bowed and spoke to the king. "As promised, I brought back some of my friends from my land to see your Kingdom, King Marentius. They were very impressed. The other Scribblers and I have enjoyed our time in the Kingdom greatly. After careful consideration, and spending much time talking this over with the other Elves, we have decided to offer your Kingdom something very special. We would like to offer you our services of engraving free of any charge." The king was greatly pleased "That is excellent! Your services will be very much welcomed!" There was however a slight problem which Geeko explained. "Since my people are used to living underground, we cannot spend a great deal of time in the sun. I have noticed that much of your Kingdom is bathed in sunlight. Is there anything we can do?" Queen Fesora had the perfect solution. "I have an idea... We could re-open up the old tunnels that we used to have long ago. These tunnels were created some time ago in the case that we needed an escape route from Trelmer Village to the Light Forest. I’m positive that they are still well intact and would be suitable for your purposes, Geeko." Geeko replied, "That sounds magnificent Your Majesty!" King Marentius decided it was a great idea and that the tunnels would re-open shortly! He thanked Geeko again for his gift. Marsilo would go with Geeko to speak to the elves and answer any questions they might have. After wishing the elves a safe trip home King Marentius instructed General Dorran to begin work immediately on the tunnels.
The next visitors were to be the Trolls. Everyone waited in anticipation to see if they would come. ![]() King Marentius sent General Dorran and Sentira out to see what was keeping them. Everyone had bad feelings about why they were so late. Fortan sensed that something was wrong. He had a feeling of foreboding. Milo felt it also, exclaiming, "Something is not right, Master." Just then General Dorran and Sentira entered. They had bad news for the King. Sentira explained, "After searching long and hard for quite some time now, we found that the trolls have in fact defected, and have joined Gast! We managed to track down the troll called Grentius and were able to get the information from him." King Marentius spoke to all, "I suppose that this means that we must be more careful when travelling alone or at night for fear of Gast and his new allies. Despite this sad news, we must move on and continue with our normal lives. For if we do not, then the Trolls will succeed in their quest of tormenting us and changing our lives for the worse." Along with General Dorran, Sentira and Fortan, King Marentius left the throne room to make plans for the safe keeping of the kingdom. The story continues, always... |
