Willis The Bold

Queen Fesora, in her continuing duty to find an heir to the throne, sent Fortan and Milo, who had been restored to human form on a journey to Dartharia. Some of the royal family lives there, and the Queen hoped to find news of some cousin who may make a suitable heir. Unfortunately, on this journey, Milo and Fortan were lured into a dark cave by a fellow traveler, Joseph.

When Fortan returned to the Queen, he had a young man with him by the name of Willis the Bold. Fortan reported to the Queen that the royal family had told him of Willis, and that Willis was a son of the King , a result of a love affair with a sweetheart of his youth. Willis also bore a diamond shaped birthmark which was a mark of Royalty in the land. The Queen was distraught and asked the guards to search the quarters that the King had used as a young Prince. These quarters had been locked up since Plentur had married.

East Wing Study

Indeed the seekers found that the King did write in a journal of a dear friend of his, Adelisa. He wrote of her as he was about to embark on a journey with his tutors and Fortan to the land of Springlea. Here, Fortan would visit his brother, and Plentur would meet the Princesses, Fesora and Isabella who were of age to marry. It was obvious from the letter, that Plentur had a special place in his heart for Adelisa.

Willis confirmed that his mother's name was Adelisa. Again the Queen was sorrowful, but she held steadfast in her duty to find a true heir to the throne. Dorran and Sentira, the Queen's guards encouraged her to get more information. The Queen agreed to this, and even Willis insisted upon it. At the age of 12 he had been sent to a monastery for training. He was very unhappy there, so he left and had not seen his mother since. The truth of his parentage was vague even to Willis.

Soon, Willis the Bold, Fortan, and Dorran set out on the journey to the town where Willis was raised with his mother ... Willow Brook. Enroute, the group stopped at a stone circle to rest. Fortan brought water for the others. The water was from Forgetful Falls, and soon Willis and Dorran were in a zombie-like stupor.

About then, Milo came upon the scene. But ... Milo had been turned into a mouse. He tried to tell Dorran that he and Fortan were prisoners, and that he only escaped because Fortan had turned him into a mouse. But Dorran heard nothing! Then, to Milo's surprise, Fortan walked back into the circle. Fortan? How could that be? Didn't he leave Fortan in prison? The man who looked so much like Fortan muted Milo and escorted Dorran and Willis into a cave. He had no intention of going to Willow Brook. He planned to prepare fake evidence for the Queen that Willis was the true heir.

Milo was in a quandary! What should he do? Just then he heard the voice of Fortan in his head. Fortan assessed the situation and told Milo that he must find the Spring of Good Hope. Water from there was the only cure for the spell under which Dorran had fallen. He informed Milo that the path to the spring could be found in Willow Brook.

Approach to Willow Brook

Questors accompanied Milo to Willow Brook where they found that Willis was the son of a Count Thervlad of the land of Northsee. Apparently, when Plentur made his journey to Springlea, his parents decided to make arrangements for the marriage of Adelisa. She was married to the cruel Count. But she was so unhappy that she ran away to the town of Willow Brook. There she lived with a good man named Gunther who raised her son as an infant. But after he died and the boy reached the age of 12, she sent him away for education at the monastery. She wrote the truth about Willis' father in a letter to him that was wrapped around the Seal of the Land of Northsee. She left instructions that he was to use that seal when and if he chose to claim his birthright.

Count Thervlad

The imposter Fortan returned to the Queen as scheduled with his fake letter to present to her. Dorran and Willis followed behind, still under the influence of Forgetful Falls. Just as Fortan was presenting his case to the Queen, Milo, still a mouse, ran in and informed Sentira that Dorran was drugged and that this Fortan was a fake! Sentira was able to awaken Dorran and Willis. All now knew that this man who called himself Fortan was an imposter and an enemy. Just as the guards were preparing to seize him, Mildrede, the Sorceress appeared and absconded with him in a puff of blackish-red smoke.

The Queen and her guards were stunned! Much had to be done and quickly! But poor Willis was bemoaning the fact that he would never know the truth of his parentage. The Queen called him to her and explained that she had been receiving reports from the seekers that evidence had been found. She told him about his father and passed the Seal of Northsee to him. She explained that his father being royal accounted for his diamond-shaped birthmark as well.

All set about planning how to rescue Fortan and bring the imposter to justice. Plans also had to be made for Willis, who had decisions to make about his future.
