Delphi celebrated it's 1st anniversary in VZones on Friday, January 28, 2000. It was a great time and I want to thank all who played in our games and went fox hunting. Also, thanks to all Delphi Forums hosts, Guides, the Caretaker staff, and our event coordinator, Babe! Here are some highlights of our event: Carol kicked off the day at 3:30 am VZT with Bingo in the Delphi Event Room. Babe was on hand to assist and she presented Carol with a specially engraved "Delphi 1st Anniversary Host" rose from the hosts of Delphi Forums. In the middle room, Jack (Delphi) and Dan (Kennel Club) were being gracious hosts. Jack was on hand for small talk and Dan was busy behind the bar serving up coffee, tea and a number of those flavored brews...his Delphi House blend was pretty good! The first Fox Hunt of the day was hosted by some super Guides! They seemed to enjoy letting those creatures free all over the world. It was quite a howl and many happy avis were roaming VZones with their new wild yellow animal.... Lady Gia of the Delphi Forum Pet Paradise is expecting visitors to discuss the care and feeding of foxes. :) Guide The Cat ran early morning Bingo and shortly after, Babe and Dan (Kennel Club) ran games that attracted crowds. Although Dan's hoster crashed and no recovery was possible, most gamers were happy with the solution and some help from Guide Shadez. Michele of Punky's Childcare connection rain trivia which focused on the Wizard of Oz! The game brought back some memories of my favorite lion, scarecrow and tin man. Lucky Numbers made its debut in the Delphi Forums Suite with the help of Li'l Kat and Clemmie Cat. It was well-received and I think will gain in popularity as time goes on. More fun and games filled the afternoon and the evening hours. A second Fox Hunt was another success with 80 foxes spread all over the world. Although I could not be inworld for all events, the Delphi Forums hosts were out in force to be sure everyone had a great time. I was home in time to see Bingo Master, Kenn Flee, run his bingo hoster in the Delphi Event room. I also got to judge for the first time ever in a poetry contest. Now let me tell you...that was different for me! We have some very talented people inworld. Way to go. The winning poem was by Cottontop#1 By - Cottontop#1 We're so very glad you're here. You've brought us lots of fun and the lovely things we've won are only second to the new freindships we grew. where we all learned to converse in a language on the screen like something we had never seen. Just when we were getting comfy with our LOL's and Hugies came a link to somewhere new. I could talk "face-to-face" with you. so the free zone made my day. I just have to say Thank You to Delphi for all you do to give us ways to stay in touch. Because my friends mean so very much. I had never been to an auction either. Imagine my surprise when a number of items were autioned off with each commanding more tokens than I had on my avi! WOW..I guess we had some RARE stuff. The tokens collected were for the jackpot in the final bingo game that Babe hosted. I think the jackpot was 223,000 tokens! WOW. You could buy a condo in VZones for that..nevermind an apartment. :) After the day was over, sometime around 1 a.m. VZT Saturday, (3 am ET for this east coast boy) a few of us hung around and drank coffee. By that hour I had mine spiked. For those who visited our bar, it was designed by Charlie (Teen Spot) and Babe, and it was Babe who did the welcoming display in the Event turf. Nice designing work folks. Aside from a few glitches like hosters not working properly and phone companies messing up our hosts, we hardly had an issue. And any issue that did come up we certainly want to address. Please e-mail me if there's something that didn't go as you had hoped. In addition to the people mentioned above, please let me thank Jazzy, Tito, Kain, and Catcher (Teen Spot) for hosting games. If I missed anyone...it certainly is not intentional. Everyone did a great job and I want to say thank you on behalf of Delphi Forums. -John |
