Support Your Local Game Host!

Dear Readers,

I  was hosting a Story Telling contest today and participated in the judging of a Poetry contest and noticed something I would like to share.   In both cases, we were short on players.  Both games only barely made the 5 player minimum.  I realize that Short Stories and Poetry isn't everyone's "thing." But did you realize the lower the number of participants the higher your chance to win the prizes?

This lead me to consider some of the wonderful games that simply never "took off."  One that I know of enough to actually use for example would be "Red Dragon."  It was tremendous fun, the host was personable, friendly, helpful and competent.   This was a game which required luck and interaction. But it was difficult to find enough players to support the game.  This discouraged a good host and now we've lost another gaming option.

We have many hosts (discounting me naturally as I only host during special events due to time constraints) that attempt to bring us variety in our games and events.  I submit  that perhaps taking a chance on a new game or two would be worth the time and effort if only to encourage our hosts.   They give so much of their personal time and effort.  They create help websites, assist players with game software and even encourage new players when they have "trouble."  We have wonderful hosts and I hope with the passing of time we will have even more new hosts and NEW GAMES.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.  As the name implies an editorial means this is MY opinion alone.  If you feel that I have in any way offended or impugned anyone, please contact me directly at tamber@vzmembers.com or ESP me IW.  I am always happy to be of assistance.

P.S.  Just a little something to consider... If only 5 participants in a game with 3 prizes that means you have a 60% chance of bagging a prize!
